No. Lack of $$$$$, and a bad job market at that time.
Moved back to Michigan, which meant that I lost my Indiana residency.

It's a practical matter, between the fact that I am REQUIRED to take
the remaining mickey-mouse courses at the West Lafayette campus,
and the fact that the surrounding area has a surplus of engineers
and unix-experienced people.

Now that I have several years of work experience, I have enough work
experience to successfully compete in the cut-throat job market in
the vacinity of Purdue.

...and the only reason it matters to me is because I want to take
some graduate level courses.

I was _not_ wrong. I setup Mandrake to use an Epson style printer as
default. The Gimp ignored this and my printer printed Postscript as text.
Only when I overrode the default in The Gimp did I get it to print
correctly.

I did nothing and it did not work, so what is your point?

It is _wrong_ to print postscript on a non-postscript printer. You get
loads of text but not a picture.

Yet that's what I had to do to get it to work. So how is that _wrong_?

So what? As you always say, the poor are poor because they are
stupid and incompetent. You were poor, because you were stupid
and incompetent, and you couldn't keep yourself in school. Thus
you flunked.

Don't make excuses, since you apply these standards to others.

You are an alleged unix sys/netadmin who doesn't knew how ping

said something half as dumb, he wouldn't get a job.

Not by using "low-level" commands they shouldn't. You don't want normal users
direct access to fdisk for example. You also don't want user to have the
ability to format file systems, etc, etc,.

DirectCD gave you this ability. Windows 2K does not have this capability
out of the box....you MUST buy additional software and install it as
administrator. Bet you can't tell us what the DirectCD installer did
to make your Windows 2K OS insecure?

Are we now supposed to purchase a hundred copies of DirectCD in order to allow
normal users to write to their CD drives? Can you tell me what DirectCD did
to you OS while you were logged in as administrator? Is you OS still secure?

Remember Windows costs money, you'll have to buy additional software to
make Windows even functional, and you'll have to spend even more money
in the form of time after that, unless your time is worth nothing.
