No. You need 2.2 kernel headers and you need linux/include/asm
to point to one of the asm-* directories (usually linux/include/asm-i386
I guess). This is something that is done when you compile the
kernel source but it is sufficient just to make the link.

You can. But SLIP has higher overhead and only handles IPv4. This
is unlikely to be an immediate problem for most.

Perhaps. Perhaps not. The kernel changed its behaviour when
interfaces are configured in ways that can, ah, "confuse"
diald, not to mention many users :-).
