Hello!

I have a linux server as dial-out and I am using IP Masquerade and Diald
ver 0.99.1. I (and all users in my system) can start a connection to my ISP
with "/sbin/ifup ppp0" and then surf on a client. But I can't get Diald to
work. When there is no connection on the server and I start a web browser
on a client, it never comes out on the Internet because the server never
makes a connection. The modem is completly dead and no diods is flashing.
Earlier I used a script (connect) which was placed in /etc/ppp/ but I read
somewhere that it wasn't necessary if I already got a proper dialup
connection (ppp0). I couldn't get this method to work either.

My diald configuration looks like this:

mode ppp
disconnect-timeout 10
redial-timeout 10
connect /sbin/ifup ppp0
device /dev/modem
speed 115200
modem
lock
crtscts
dynamic
defaultroute
include /usr/lib/diald/standard.filter
fifo /dev/diald.ctl
local 192.168.1.1
remote 212.151.53.218

----- End -----
Comments:
* /dev/modem is linked to the right com port.
* The servers IP address is 192.168.1.1
* The IP number after 'remote' is the number I was assigned when I made a
connection with 'ifup ppp0' and I know that I got this address dynamic but
I read somewhere that it doesn't matter. If I understod it right ofcourse.
* When I configured IP Masquerade I also ran "echo "1" >
/proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_dynaddr" which, according to IP-Masquerade-HOWTO,
supposed to help diald. Hmmmm...

Server configuration:

RH 6.1
Kernel 2.2.12 with ppp and slip compiled (it was a requirement).

My connect file look like this but as I mentioned before I am not using it
anymore.

#!/bin/sh
exec /usr/sbin/chat -v \
TIMEOUT 45 \
ABORT'busy' \
ABORT'NO DIALTONE' \
'' ATZ \
OK ATDT09397704990 \
CONNECT ''

----- Slut -----
Comments:
* /usr/sbin/chat is in my system.

I could need some help and I would be very happy if there is someone who
have a solution!
