I am watching this thread with interest. I have a static IP address but I randomly appear to lose the first packet (usually a DNS lookup from what I can tell). I compiled and installed diald 0.99.2 but it appeared to die randomly and did not fix my problem. I have reverted back to 0.99.1 which is very stable except for this problem. I do not know a great deal about Linux .... would writing my own routing table when the link comes up help solve the problem? Also can anyone tell me how to trace my ppp connection so I can see the first packets and their destination?
