Have you (who have problems with X) left out, or compiled MODULAR
the UNIX-domain sockets ? If you have, that is the likely problem.
Turn that option to integrated compilation: Y.
Non-functionality of NETROM et.al. are also possible, but they won't
affect X, while UNIX-domain sockets do.
