Hello,

I have RedHat 9.0 2.4.20-6 kernel.
>From http://www.kernel.org I have downloaded the latest patch "patch-2.4.22"
It was in a .bz2 format.I unzipped it using "bzip2 <file name>.

After this I moved the file patch-2.4.22 to /usr/src and gave teh command.
patch -p0 < patch2.4.22
All I get after this are "Hunk Failed" errors about 60 of them and then
it asks for another patch file. What are hunk errors ?
If I reboot the machine now will there be any problems as I have stopped teh process
in between ?

Where am I going wrong ? I have read teh instructions at
http://www.europe.redhat.com/documentation/HOWTO/Kernel-HOWTO-6.php3

I wanted to try out (a) Kernel patching and (b) kernel compilation and upgrade process.

Plesse help.

Regards,
Vijay.
