Hmm, I must be doing something wrong somewhere. Both linux-2.3.15 +
patch-2.3.14-irda1 and linux-2.2.12 + patch-2.2.12-irda1 works fine
as long as I don't dial out. The serial connection to the 8810 is now
really reliable and stable. This makes this patch a great improvement
over the previous Linux-2.2 ircomm.
But (there had to be one, right?) I always get an immediate "NO CARRIER"
error when I try to dial. The result is the same with both ppp-chat
and minicom. Typing other AT commands works without any errors, including
initiating voice calls(!) Dialling and PPP works fine from the Psion, so
the phone should be OK.
PPP on the Linux box works when I use a PCMCIA modem. To minimalise
error sources I tried to use the exact same chatscript for both PCMCIA
modem and GSM phone. The only difference was /dev/modem <-> /dev/ircomm0.
Anyone got any ideas? I don't.
