The big question here is, are you installing the Linux boot partition
under 1024 cylinders? It has something to do with the motherboard,
usually. You may have to make a boot partition below 1024 cylinders.
So be prepared to start rearranging your hard drive a bit.

The usual way to copy and paste text in GNU/Linux (and in Unices too) is
to mark the text (i.e. copy the text) using the left mouse button and
then to paste it using the middle mouse button. This works in most
applications/window managers as far as I know.

Hi again guys...

Is there some way in KDE that I can change key mappings....??? For
example, if I wanted to use the <DEL> key that is located under the
numeric keypad the same way that the regular <DEL> key used, is there
some way that I can do this... I'm using netscape messenger right now,
and it doesn't make use of the numeric keypad at all (unless the
<NUM LOCK> key on...

Can someone help... Thanks...

If you are root you can do whatever you want to. If you are not root,
then you must have the password.

I can't think of a situation where a user can not remove a message from
a mailbox... This smells a little fishy...

I would like to get image in cicle 2-3 times per second at least,
(the more the better) and with tv quality at least.
I have video camera with Composite Video Out.

What are boards to cope with this task and be supported in Linux ?

I suppose, there are two ways to do this work.
1 Capture board with
Brooktree Bt848/848A/849/878/879 video chip
But it seems these boards are out of date now.

2 Video adapter with video input ?
for example, i heard that
 ATI All-In-Wonder 128 SECAM 16MB TV In-Out
has a one of BT video chips (seems bt878).
But this way arouses my suspicion about confilcts
with XFree86.
Or maybe this question could be addressed to XFree86 ?

By the way. What are differencies between
Video capture board, Frame Grabber and TV tuner in
sense video input ? Does anyone have buffer memory ?

I'd really appreciate any advice.

Both buttons together are the middle mouse button on a two button mouse.

Or switch to using w3m/links/lynx/kfm like I'm doing as Netscape seems to be
getting worse with each new release. I'm fed up with it.

if u've got the possibility to boot from cd and your distribution uses
bootable cds:
boot from cd and select rescue system - now u should be able to mount your
harddisk.
i think it would be wise to reinstall the sh (you'll need it :-)

if u wanna switch the console try this:
chsh

Before you go doing stuff like that read some of the FAQs on how to use

aha yes:) i found the rc.modules script in /etc/rc.d and quite right it
tries loading them.
so this is why i couldn't see these errors via dmesg?

so is this a problem for me?
anything that i should do something about?
could i simply comment them out?

i was under the impression that I chose what modules i wanted (in
menuconfig or similar).
why does the system override my decisions?

oh i forgot the freakin "s":) i got no conf.modules either.
is that bad?
and what about the aliases? what are they for? i have seen people write
about them, but i didn't see them explained in the modules.txt in the
kernel docs.
where do i read about them?

ahh yes, its special like that.
but given i have 192meg i take it this doesn't really matter much now?

it will be different when i try getting that 486/16meg up and running
with linux...

Mark the text with the mouse, then switch to the window you want to paste
into, place the curser where you want the text to go, point the mouse to
the same place and click both mouse buttons at the same time.

You ask a lot of questions about netscape, you havn't got the message yet
have you it's not a news reader or a mail client it's a web browser.

Netscape have full documentation on their site if you insist on using it.

Slrn, good choice but I hate seeing it written in block capitals
for some reason.

% Command used to invoke editor. In the following example, %s represents
% the file name and %d represents the starting line number
set editor_command "pico '%s' -g %d -tmp"

Look for these lines in your slrn.rc file and as you see I use pico
I still have nightmares about the time I jot stuck in vi and thought
I'd never get out.

cu requires you to set up the uucp system, possible without the systems
definition, but the devices definitions are required. There are a few
other serial terminal emulators for example minicom.
