Kernel.Howto avaible under /usr/doc or www.linux.org click support,
click howto.  It is worth the read.
If there is no linux or linux2.0.35 dir in /usr/src that means you don't
have the source installed.  It should 
be on one of the RedHat cd's find it and do a rpm -i file.  This will
'install' the source under /usr/doc then go
from there.  Tip, if you get a configure option wrong, do a `make clean`
to start over from scratch
