Hi,
I have installed RH 6.1 and it does not want to print. I have RH 5.2 on
a second hard disk and no problem with printing.
When I use printtool with RH 6.1 it does not detect any /dev/lp?. The
printer I have installed is Epson LQ-300.
In printtool I restart lpd, it does it dutyfully. When I test print it
spools correctly. The same is true when I try to print some files using
emacs editor or cat file | lpr. The lpq command works fine same for lpc.
If I check lpc status it says, queuing, printing is enabled, x entries in
spool area, waiting for lp to become ready (offline ?). ls > /dev/lp?
yields bash: "no such device".
I followed exactly all the instructions as outlined in Chapter 20,
Printing of the book Read Hat Linux Unleashed.
I hope somebody can help, I am at a total loss!!
