Hi all,

I "played" a litte with raid today and experienced some problems:
I have a generally stable system running RH 5.2, 2.2.9, raid-2.2.6 and
NFS-2.2.9-patch; 2xPII-350, 256MB; 4 Raid devices: mirror for root,
3xraid5 (1.5,2 and 55GB).

Then I did some things to it like rebooting it the hard way. Then the
trouble began. The arrays were not shut down so they started to resync.
Problem was, it did not mount the 50G after 10 Minutes (usually takes 10
seconds)
Back in 2.2.6, resync started and the system came up without problems.

Problem #2: I switched from runlevel 3 to 1. Result was, that the resync
had stopped and even going back to 3 did not restart it (mdstat didn't
even state that the arrays were not clean).

Problem #3: Is there a way to sync the arrays with ALT-SYSRQ-?? Could
something be added? Perhaps the last action of boot? Problem could
perhaps be that you can only remount read-only and then the device is
still used. But after sync and umount it should also be safe to force
closing the raid devices.
