Vinum is a LVM tool.  The s/w RAID implementation for Linux is not an LVM
tool, although RAID-0 could be used to striping/concat.  Both LVM and RAID
are expected to be in 2.4 so you can be pretty sure that it has been tested
and since Linus has given his seal of approval, that's enough to convince me
that it is stable.
