Seems stable enough. The only problem I've ever had with
the RAID5 stuff is that periodically, one of the drives
would get kicked out of the set. This wasn't so bad, since
it can be just raidhotadd'ed back into the set. However,
when one goes undetected, and the next one gets kicked out,
then it's bye-bye array.
I solved this (kludge, I know) by a cron job that examines
/proc/mdstat and raidhotadds back in any missing devices
to the array.
I don't know if this has been fixed in subsequent revisions
of the patches, but the version I'm running is fairly recent
(19990824 dated files from ftp.us.kernel.org). I think.
