I had asked about that board about a year ago when deciding to order one or two 
processors with it, all the responses I received back were favorable, and I bought two 
PP180s, and have not had any problems with it.  Also, Micronics != Micron  (even 
though the Linux SMP page seems to imply otherwise).  Micronics was a seperate company 
that is now owned by Diamond.  ( http://www.diamondmm.com/ )

My guess would be that either you did not configure the kernel for SMP or did not 
install the new kernel properly.
