A friend of mine uses a pcmcia smartmedia reader with his notebook. 
It's just a generic one he picked up on his way home (I think it's 
called "peripheral snapz" by "peripheral enhancements corporation").  He 
mounts it as a pcmcia hard drive with no hassle.

As my primary machine is a notebook, this would probably work better.  I 
just have only one slot, and don't feel like unplugging my ethernet card 
when not using it.

Maybe I should look into one of the supported devices in the usb-storage 
driver... Any suggestions?
