How exactly did you set it up? I'm assuming you've got the card into the
machine properly.
You don't run ./configure on the nvidia drivers!!
Did you do this in this order?
Downloaded either the Mandrake9.0upNvidia_Kernel.rpm or the
NVIDIAKernel.tar.gz and either the Nvidia Mandrake 9.0 GLX rpm or tar.gz
If it was the tar.gz Source files you downloaded you needed to have done this.
uncompress them. Enter the NVIDIA_Kernel directory and as su run
"make install"
go the the NVIDIA_GLX directory and as su run
"make install"
If you didn't do it in this order do do the above now it'll overwrite the old
files. if you ran ./configure you'll probably need to delete the uncompressed
files and uncompress the other ones again.
if you used the rpm's you should have done it in the same order.
go to /etc/X11/ and open the file XF86Config-4 with a text editor (vi, emacs
or nano (you do know how to use them don't you? If not use vi to make changes
you need to press the insert key. once you've made the changes hit escape to
get out of editing mode and type :w hit enter which will save the file and
then :q to exit )). Find the section that looks something like this
Section "Device"
Identifier "device1"
VendorName "nVidia Corporation"
BoardName "RIVA TNT2"
Driver "nvidia"
Option "DPMS"
EndSection
change the Driver line which will say something like Driver "nv" for you to
Driver "nvidia" (if nothing else works change the driver back to nv)
then find the section like this
Section "Module"
Load "dbe" # Double-Buffering Extension
Load "v4l" # Video for Linux
Load "extmod"
Load "type1"
Load "freetype"
Load "glx" # 3D layer
EndSection
and make sure its the same. Save the file log out and reboot.
It should load properly now.
Seeing you've done the first bit you should only need to change the
XF86Config-4 file. Just Make sure you've installed the NVIDIA kernel bit
before glx.
If that doesn't fix the problem read the readme/guide file at Nvidias website
with the drivers.
