The biggest mess that learning Linux can create for new users migrating
from Windows, happens when they try to install Linux dual-boot, on their
primary hard drive, which is home to their Windows partition, and the
Windows partition is mission-critical, and they screw up, and
destroy/erase their Windows partition.

If possible, it is a good idea to set up a separate machine for
experimenting, and learning about things like dual-boot, partitioning,
MBR's, etc... especially if blowing away your primary Windows operating
system, and the data it contains, is going to create any hardship.
