I'm not sure this is the right place to ask for this, but anyways...

Did you check VMWare's routing settings? You should assign one of the VMWare 
ethernet interfaces to the physical interface on your host computer which is 
connected to the internet. You should also consider which method you want to 
use to connect the guest machine (the VMWare virtual machine) to the 
internet. VMWare allows you to either use NAT or have the virtual machine's 
interface show as a physical interface on the network. Once that is 
configured, you should be able to connect without problems to the internet. 
In fact, I have a couple of Debian servers running under VMWare on a Windows 
XP platform.
