Dual channel is really dual core memory banks where these days DDR memory
modules are placed into two separate banks. Identical memory modules are
recommended for each bank for brand, size, chips and speed.

Interesting... I wasn't aware of any motherboards that REQUIRE dual
channel memory - its generally an option that is automatically enabled
when identical sticks are placed in the appropriate slots.
What make and model motherboard is this?

I am aware of some older memory types (72 pin SIMMS and RDRAM) that have
to be installed in pairs, but thats not really 'dual channel'.
