Based on your comments I will revisit the forums and see if the
consensus indicates the 64 bit version has stabilised. If so, I might
give it a try. I don't have the time at the moment to install the thing
and customise it only to have it behave oddly (like Kubuntu does on all
my machines). It is possible you are one of the lucky few with a
specific hardware configuration agreeable to the version. 

An example of this kind of thing: Edgy ran very well on my Intel dual
core system, but refuses to even display a command line with a cheap AMD
box I just built for music and Internet radio. Dapper runs perfectly on
the same box however.
