I have used both Ubuntu and Mepis and both on an ATI card. I found
both to be quite friendly, but the documentation and forum support for
Mepis is nowhere near as good. Every time I research an issue on
Mepis, I seem to find the exact problem asked as a question on the
Mepis forum, but I never find an answer and rarely even a response.
That means I would recommend Ubuntu for someone looking for something
easy but not Mepis as on the later you will likely have to figure
issues out yourself.
