I have good news Dave. My Dell has a Broadcom 1390 also. When I installed Mint 6 it automatically recognized it. I think after the first boot it presented a button on the task bar regarding proprietary drivers for both my video (nvidia) and the broadcom. I just had to follow the dialogs to get it going painlessly. I know people have talked about googling for it. However, I don't think you will need to. This is part of why I am such a Mint advocate. I just wanted the system to work and it does beautifully. Now when I want to play under the covers, that option is available. In the meantime I have a wonderfully functioning OS that does almost everything I need. Unfortunately I still have to run some MS crap because some work applications only work with Internet Exploder.
