I had ordered the Linux MegaPack from LinuxMall last year (its was 6
different linux distro's at the time - did not include Mandrake). I
actually tried them all (reformatting galore!).
Anyway, my overall impression was that Slackware and Debian were a
little bit hard to configure at first. Basically, Slackware is
userfriendly to the kind of user that wants to configure with a text
editor. I haven't really done much with Debian, all though it did seem a
little confusing and difficult compared to the other ones.
RedHat 6.0 seems fairly good. I have also heard great things
about Mandrake but have not tried it yet. I did buy the full version of
Caldera because I heard it came with Partition Magic. I was kind of
disappointed that it seemed like all you can do with the Caldera version
of PM is create Linux partitions (not resize Windows partitions as I
hoped). But from my experience, Caldera seems about the easiest and comes
with the most programs (WordPerfect, StarOffice, and BRU).
