I'm sort of liking the twist where the gundam pilots seem to be the bad guys.. it's a variation from all of the previous storylines we've seen in a gundam series. But that girly-girl pilot.. what's his name, Tiera or something?.. anyhow, he definately needs to be stepped on or something.. I'm wondering if the same incident that made him appear feminine also made him inherit female mood swings?.. cause's he's acting like a total bi-.. nevermind. Excluding Lockon, he's the only one who's past hasnt been reveiled at all. Even Sumeragi has had bits and peices of her past revealed.

The same thought occurred to me just yesterday. But I also wouldn't be surprised if the "incident" in her past (the one alluded to in episode 6) is a part of what's driven her to the bottle. I suspect that the unknown incident started it, and her current work has continued it (and is possibly making it worse). Also, iirc at least one of the bridge crew members (one of the guys that have only taken up space so far) looked relieved that the rescue operation had been undertaken in episode 5. So she may not be the only one with a conscience, though she's certainly the most high ranking at the moment. And the guy in the bridge crew has only had one or two brief lines to date. I know it's hard to root for Setsuna right now, but I see him a lot like Heero Yuy early on in Wing (albeit without the ability to jump from the 10th floor of a building and survive the drop). On the one hand, it's good that there's someone worse than CB out there, as it means we can actually start viewing them as protagonists (though Tieria really needs to be stepped on, just like Ali). But on the other...ugh, it's still such a goddamn mess. I'm interested to see where it goes, but I really wish we had a main character we could root for (Lockon and Allelujah, maybe, though they seem to be strictly support characters ATM). On a related note...I'm betting Sumeragi's drinking stems from the fact that she seems to be the only one in CB who has a conscience. Or at least she seems to grasp the gravity of the organizations actions, and to be a bit bothered by the body count.
