A friend of mine commented just last night that it was nice not seeing lots of reused animation in Gundam 00.

*cough*SEED*cough*

Louise's mother is suddenly creeping me out...

Ali - My question is: Is Ali being hired for a new job in his old stomping grounds?  Or does he have an interest of his own in the situation in Azadistan that extends beyond it just "being a job"?  It's obviously not the first time that he's caused trouble there.

Did small arms fire REALLY take out one of the mobile suits that were attacking the city?  Because it certainly looked that way!

(something like that is actually possible in real life; it's just very, very, very, very, very unlikely, and usually doesn't involve explosions)

There's some good stuff in this episode.  And, of course, we have the dual questions of whether Setsuna will once again run into Ali and/or Marina during this excursion.

One thing that occured to me just the other day is that Gundam series are often at least partially framed as conflicts between two groups - Spacenoids vs. Earthborn.  Newtypes vs. Oldtypes.  Coordinators vs. Naturals.  You'll note that the three prior listed conflicts all involve something that doesn't exist today versus something that we're all familiar with (since we're all Earthborn Oldtype Naturals).

Gundam 00 seems to be throwing that all out the window.  Instead, the approach seems to be, "Humans just really love to fight, and will look for pretty much any excuse to do so."  Humans don't need to be moving into space or jumping to the next stage of genetic development (whether they got there naturally or through artificial means).  They'll look for reasons to fight anyway.  In fact, the one instance that we've seen so far of genetic development actually has a single representative on both sides of the conflict, and the existance of these two individuals has nothing whatsoever to do with any of the fighting (though they're both involved in it).

I suspect that part of what prompted that line of thought is a delayed response to the racism that Setsuna encountered when traveling through Azadistan.  "We took over your country.  Now get out of our town."  Humans don't need big new changes to fight.  They do it anyway, despite expressed desires to the contrary.
