Well, I think Graham is more perceptive than anything else. There is no
way a kid would be out in that area unless he's a soldier, or at the
very least a scout. And if he's a fighter pilot as well as a mecha
pilot, one of his prerequisites for being where he is now would be
outstanding visual acuity.
As for the idea of moon race...well, the Moon is figuring prominently in
the new opening animation - it's the backdrop for the three Thrones, and
some fight scenes there seem to make it either by moonlight, or near the
moon. If it turns out that Celestial Being is based near the moon or on
it, it would be an interesting twist as it is.
and if they come out with a Jupitoris fleet, I will laugh myself off my
chair.
side note:
In the new ending animation, Lockon is giving Seiei a haircut in some
nice, idyllic beach setting, with Allelujah cooking, I think, and Tieria
doing a science experiment. All would have been well, except that well,
Tieria is wearing nothing except what seems to be a big button-up shirt,
in a style that suggests that he is more of a she.

Well that part is not that unique. ZZ F-91 and Turn-A, (at least)
also take up that theme. But they all add a layer of distance with
the Newtypes and Moonraces.
