Not sure where the "300 years" comes from.  The solar elevator system has only been in place for ten years.  Without that, the export of fossil fuels would probably continue.  As for the UN not caring about who suffers...  there are a lot of people who would say that the UN has a similar disinterest in the fallout of its decisions even today.

The reliance on the mobile suit was a comment that Corner made when he watched Exia trash the mobile suits advancing on the palace (though the exact phrase he used was "brute force").

Graham doesn't know that Exia's pilot is a Kurdish boy.  He probably knows that there's a Kurdish boy associated with CB, but doesn't know anything about that boy's role in CB.  And since Tieria wasn't once again talking about executing Setsuna, I'm guessing that Marina was out of range of the microphones when she made her comments to Exia's pilot.  She was facing away from everyone except Setsuna, and had run forward away from her entourage.  Thus it's possible that no one else heard her.  She was also close enough to Exia that the TV cameras might not have even been able to see her (they'd be at the other end of the courtyard, and presumeably blocked by Exia's bulk).

"Now with Union/CB intervention, it's
just returned to the pre-kidnapping level of continuing unrest."

That's not the impression that I got.  Before Massoud was kidnapped, there was violence but it was restricted.  Now there's a full-blown civil war taking place ("civil war" being the phrase used in the fansub I have).  It sounds as if the joint statement by Marina and Massoud had little, if any, effect.  CB is not involved at the moment because they were allowing the two sides to try to work things out (my understanding based on CB's instructions when announcing the recovery of Massoud; and CB has other conflicts to interfere with).  But since that appears to have failed, CB will be back.  The Union's only really interested in capturing the Gundams, and probably scaled back its involvement once it became clear that CB was going to give the locals a chance to work things out.

As I said earlier, I'm not completely sure that PMC/AEU is Ali's only employer.  So it's possible that AEU was not, in fact, the organization that had him pull this job.

As far as the Conservative Leader goes, the idea you posit is basically what would have happened if Ali had released him a day or two later.  Instead, it seems clear that Ali was to hold onto Massoud for an unstated reason.  It's possible that Ali's employers merely wanted to keep Massoud out of the way long enough to let things completely disintegrate (Ali was upset about CB's "interference", even though the only thing I remember CB actually stopping at that point is the attack on the palace).  Or they may have planned something else.

How nice, the UN only begins this "encouragement" after waiting
patiently 300 years for the Big 3 (or 2 1/2) to get all set and comfy
with solar power and then doesn't even pretend to be concerned about
the war/suffering caused by oil ban.

As an aside, I am not impressed with the 4 GM's yet. They have been
overwhelmingly reliant on their equipment. If the 4 GM's have to
match 1-on-1 against Soma, Sergei, Graham or Ali in comparable
hardware, I will bet against the GM's 100%. I'd say the GM's are
probably about as good as Ming and Graham's wingmen.

Very long winded way to say Setsuna sucks. Now Graham, Marina and Ali
all know that Exia's pilot is a Kurdish boy. Oh... didn't Marina yell
out Setsuna's name on live global broadcast? It's a big PR win for
CB, but someone forgets now anyone can use Yellow Page(TM) to track
down Exia's pilot's residential address in Japan.

I'd say one and a half. If Rassa died then the civil war would be
full-blown and out of control. Now with Union/CB intervention, it's
just returned to the pre-kidnapping level of continuing unrest.

He keeps talking. Barely able to keep a lid on the more violent
fragments of his fraction. Meanwhile Marina also keeps talking,
barely able to keep a lid on the more violent fragments of her
fraction.

> And why was destroying the solar facility so important?

Because if the solar project were successful, it will start to bring
hmm let's not say "prosperity" let's just say "subsistence" and
therefore Reformist will gain the upper hand and soon there would be
peace. If that spreads to the other Middle East nations, then Union
and UN will get a foothold smack in the common backyard of AEU and
HRL.
