It's probably a small number, but numbers arn't important, trends
are. Besides switching to an IANA root there is also "slipping
in a tld or two to try it" and sel;f primarying the root -
which has real advantages. 

I mean there's two part to this, one is "whose root zone
am I gong to use" then "how am I going to use it. Even
if you want to stick with the legacy root, if you secondary
the "." zone from someplace you never use the root
servers.

Remember, the root servers are a convenience, not a requirement
to a working internet. And they're getting less and less
convenient all the time.
