Good luck, server and quite are an oxymoron. Even in quite mode, most
servers are quite nosy. If it's quite it's likely not a server ;)

RAID requires more than one drive, usually working a bit harder than a
normal one would on it's own. Thus creating a bit more heat, and
requiring a bit more cooling. Fans == noise :)

Might go for like 1+0 or 0+1, RAID 10 or what ever it's called. RAID 1
is good for redundancy and reliability but no so much for performance.
Which you might care about on a gaming machine ;)

Push the ram, think ramdisk, for extreme speed and performance :)

That said, I am not sure many if any games are multi-threaded. Most tend
to be single threaded, so I am not sure if they will benefit from
multiple cores. Depending on the speed of each core, might be better off
with less cores if each one is faster. Something to keep in mind. Might
want to do some research on the games themselves.

Um headset? Likely want a mike to talk smack to other gammers your
fragging, casting spells on, etc

Now I can't believe that's the case. Windows gaming computers are
everywhere, with neon lights and all kinds of crap that is totally
unnecessary.

If you want quite get a laptop.

But really hitting up a Linux list for advice on a off the shelf windows
gaming machine. Um.... I probably should not even dignify the post with
a response. That said at least gain some points and build the sucker. Or
do the good hardware a favor and put a decent OS on it. Stick to games
that run on Linux :)

I know it's so horrible to be on a platform that has limited games
available/ported compared to others. All good pun intended!
