This factored into my business logic as well, and if there was really
that much interest all around. There is no more Linux World, just
smaller local Linux enthusiast events, SCALE, SELF, etc. I started
thinking about this over a month ago. The timing of the recent
commotion, was just final justification needed.

Linux like the refrigerator once was cool, but now its something we are
used to and depend on, without much thought at times, like Android.

Thats basically what has been happening as of late. But there is a
difference in those that attend, and reside on list only. Many have not
seen or are even aware of what has been going on. Since they don't show
or participate in meetings on a some what regular basis. Once or twice a
year won't tell you a thing. Yet they criticize on JaxLUG numbers,
growth, etc, when they have no clue as to meeting attendance :)

Its sustainable, but it is not ideal, and I never had any intention of
doing it all. I simply did what others were not. Though I did get some
help from Rob McKennon, with meetings and such. Rob also does a great
job of keeping meetings on agenda, watching time, etc.

In fact if I go back in the mailing list. I think at one point Rob was
supposed to be the leader or something like that. Really not sure, and
it wasn't anything formal. I think I was supposed to be more backing up
Rob. Not that I was trying to do his job for him, just when things
aren't getting done. I tend to just do them, rather than try to find
someone to get it done.

I have tried time and time again to get people to update the wiki. I
can't even get presenters to put their own presentation information in
there. I am also asking for the information so I can fill it in, then
send to list. Anytime I don't do that stuff, guess what happens,
NOTHING!

I was quite pleased when Ralph took time to create a Wiki page regarding
the IRC channel. Its the most anyone other than me has done with the
Wiki in some time. Go look at the change history on the Wiki, spanning
years...

Also go look in the mailing list archives. I purposely at times, waited
to bring up meeting topics, presenters, etc on list. Did anyone else?
People keep talking about the things the LUG needs. But they overlook
the most important aspect, the meetings. Short of technical activity on
list, which hasn't happened much in the last year. Again because Linux
is so main stream more than likely, or its not in wide use in this area.
Either way little is being discussed on the list of a technical nature.

That has been the case for the JaxLUG in the past. Gene Cronk had is
meeting as his place of employment when then FCCJ now FSCJ kicked us out
of the ATC because we did not have money to pay for insurance.
