firststarled.com offers an anchor light that as a 
no charge option uses "warm white" leds so it 
looks very yellow (just like an old fashioned 
incandescent bulb)when compared to the silvery 
white light from most white light leds.

Yellow is reserved for towing.
About the only color left not used for other nav 
lights or police ect is purple. <G> That would be 
cool, I guess!

Myself, I hang my anchor light from the forestay 
8-10 feet up most times.

Running extra lighting is not really needed if you 
do that.
Unless you are anchored in Back Creek, Annapolis 
MD, just when the boaters are returning from 
watching Fourth of July fireworks, then you need 
all the lights you can get! -Ken
