I apologize. to those who found our dialog annoying. I got so wrapped up in
the discussion that I forgot it was going out onto the List.

I enjoy "sharpening my pencil" and zeroing in on the crux of a matter. It is
the sort of thinking needed to solve problems on the boat too.

For example, the last time Jan visited the boat the genset (the PVs had failed,
I just last week installed new ones sent to me by Kyocera) was acting "funny".
It would run, but when she started up the watermaker the genset would shut down
10 minutes later. I thought "slow fuel starvation problem" but when I got to
the boat and started troubleshooting I found fuel pressures downstream of the
primary and secondary filters good. (Thank goodness for fuel pressure gauges)
Just before and after the engine shutdown from the shutdown problem the temps,
and pressures all looked good. (Thank goodness for mechanical pressure and
temp gauges on the engine) The engine would continue running if I held the
pre-start prime button down (which bypasses the automatic shutdowns) When I
disconnected the high temp shutdown switch the engine operated normally. Had
no spare, ordered two.

BTW, the switch from the Northern Lights website was $44 each, from the local
Northern Lights dealer was $96!

Norm and Ken, many may have found your conversation tedious and unnecessary,
but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was like watching "Boston Legal" on TV or
something, and defending comments quite interesting and civil. What fun we have!
