Correct, which is why if Debian deprecates something -- like it did
net-tools (e.g., ifconfig) in 2009 in favor of iproute (e.g., ip addr)
-- it's likely something LPIC should consider doing as well.

I hope everyone understands the "iproute" change pre-dates "nmcli."

Those will vary slightly, based on distribution.

Technical Note:

"nmcli" (and NetworkManager) actually modifies "ifcfg-*", and can set
_static_ entries (even setup bridges, etc...), while Debian has
traditionally used "interfaces".

Industry Note:

The need for "nmcli" (and NetworkManager, among other things) largely
arose out of IaaS/PaaS need for dynamic changes on-the-fly.
