Description of my NIC :

3c509b-TPO
ASSY:03-0020-006 REV-A
3com etherlink III
on the chip itself
3com 40-0130-004
9705S 16003554
LUCENT 40-01304

When I write "Enable or Disable", I mean I tested both :

Boot on a dos floppy, launch 3c5x9cfg.exe
--> configure NIC --> Plug And Play Capability --> Enable or Disable
If PnP Disable --> I/O Base : 300h and IRQ : 10
Transceiver Type : On board TP
Network Driver Optimization : tested the three options (Dos client,
Windows, server)

System : IBM Personal Computer 330 (Pentium 166, 80Mo RAM)
Model 6577-9BT (Latest BIOS downloaded)

In the BIOS config, I tested different solutions :
 - Plug And Play --> Set Device Node --> Enable or not (The only part of
PnP you can touch in this BIOS)
 - Addr 300h available or not
 - IRQ 10 available or not

I found an old HP Vectra (486dx4/100), and it works on that machine with
the same NIC !!!
