Doug, I believe the trouble is that Debian installs the home directories with the sticky bit set. I usually chmod 750 all my home directories.
Also you can always make a file immutable using chattr +i which means nobody (not even root) can delete it until root chattr -i the file. Pete -- http://www.elbnet.com ELB Internet Service, Inc.
