Sorry for the previous email, I was VNC'd and my keyboard messed up and some strange keyboard combination accidentally sent the message. I am working on outlining all the steps I have gone through to solve this problem.
I have been unable to find a consistent pattern in behavior of the terminal. Sometimes I can log in as the same user more than once and things will work, but eventually it stops working (for all users). It appears that lbussd stops getting started at some point, and manually trying to start it gives me a "connection refused" error. However, local devices still do not work even when lbussd is started correctly. I had previously stated that USB devices were working properly, regardless of the number times I logged in, but that is no longer the case. Once the floppy drive stops working, so do the rest of the local devices. Would the fact that I am using LDAP authentication with NFS mounted /home be causing this problem? Obviously many others have gotten local devices to work perfectly in 4.2, so I'm curious what is different about my setup. I'm using OpenSuse 10.1 currently, but had the same problem with FC5. I have followed the trouble-shooting guide and attempted to debug with the little knowledge I have--but I haven't found a solution. Anyone have any ideas for me to try? I am having the same second login problem. I need to reboot the terminal for it to work. I think that I checked properly and realized that lbus was not hanging but I need to look further. Please let me know if you get anywhere with it.
