I noticed this bug only occurs when you have filters enabled, as each e-mail lands into the Inbox by default, and then gets filtered to its appropriate folder. Without filters enabled, a more-than-2GB Inbox seemed to work. But I cannot filter e-mails manually :-). Cheers, Mark.
