yeah it is over kill. I don't know how that part of the budget was approved.
And the fact that they let the students take the computers home for the
whole semester was amazing. I never believed the pitch that the inner city
needs computers donated to them because they cannot afford them. It is very
easy to get your hands on a computer around here, there are lots of groups
willing to donate old computers to anyone who will take them. i personally
donate a lot of my old equipment to the salvation army who fix it and reuse
the computer. but of course people only want to use the newest and best
stuff instead of realizing that any computer will do so long as you learn
how to use it. That is why i enjoy linux, it gave life to an older laptop i
used at my last job and taught me a lot more about computers that i had no
idea of before.
