while I get that some organizations might have valid reasons to opt for POP3, I 
am still convinced that IMAP is a better choice for any person who might want 
to have access to their email from more than one location. Yes you can leave a 
copy on the server but that is about all the functionality you have with POP3.

WIth IMAP you can:

- have access to your inbox from multiple locations
- save local storage since all your mail is stored on the server
- more bandwidth friendly since it (initially) just downloads mail headers
- filtering of email on the server without having to download them locally, 
meaning only download the emails you want
- most mail clients support IMAP offline mode so you don't need a connection to 
the server to read your mail.

At the end of the day it is about choice and if you are happy with the features 
of POP3 then that is great for you.
