Martyn-- I'll second the recommendation for abctab2ps. It does a variety of tab styles as well as staff notation (multiple staves, an assortment of clefs, lyrics), and tab with staff. And it's free. Christoph Dalitz keeps the program well-maintained, and the manual for it is very clear. Runs on Mac or PC. Christoph is very helpful with set up and questions. Certainly worth a try. I can send you some ps or pdf samples if you'd like.
