While we're at it, let me repeat my plea for a luthier to design a practical travel lute a la the Soloette or Aria AS-100C Sinsonido "silent" travel guitars: http://www.amazon.com/Aria-AS-100C-Sinsonido-Travel-Guitar/dp/B002AMVC0I/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top.
I took one of these on vacation and kept up my classical guitar chops. I've also used it plugged into an amp for wedding gigs. People think it looks cool, too. There are electric ouds and even gambas nowadays as well. No such option for the lute... I have a few design ideas but no wood working ability at all. If you're a builder interested in cornering the market, feel free to contact me! My present cases are mostly made of wood and significantly heavy and hard, not something I would want to strap on my back. A light-weight soft padded case on my back would be a big improvement.
