Not sure. Maybe starting froms scratch would be an option, too. I.e. write down a set of functions deemed necessary for a decent sripting interface (i.e. create a suitable language) and implement these (of course as far as possible using the existing code). I am afraid using the current mess as starting point will give us an interface full of syntactic and semantic quirks. Andre'
