It's unfortunate that this has to be such a messy issue. You'd
think that you could simply dump it to a text file.
You can do this, but the text output isn't always all that usable,
because of overstrikes, bolding, and the like that the man program
does, often by printing multiple characters on the same place on the
terminal screen. However, in a pinch, it does work.
Simply type:
man command>outputfile
and the man page for the command will be placed in the outputfile.
As I said, it's not pretty most of the time, but it does work.
Esther's suggestion of dumping it to preview would work better, since
it would know how to handle the bold/overstrike/what have you, and
would produce a much cleaner output, which you could then copy and
paste into text edit if you really wanted a plain text version.
