Hello Dónal, I've been using the Kobo app on my iPhone for almost three years now and once set up correctly, it's thoroughly accessible.
Kobo books can also be read on the Mac with Adobe Digital Editions. I can't remember the authorisation process on the Mac as it's a long time since I did it.
