Hi eileens
The problem is software, not hardware. The space bar works
fine when used with a modifier key. It is a preference froblem
of some kind I believe.

Subject: Re: Really odd Issue With Mac And Spacebar
Hi Gordon,
This is a simple solution, but maybe sometype of foreign partical
has gotten into the spacebar. What about using some compressed
air to see if you can clean it out before taking more drastic
measures. There are times that my Mac Air keyboard needs me to
press a keystroke twice before it opens or selects an item. The
above is just a thought.
Kind regards,
Eilcen

sometimes keys get stuck. I don't know if this is your problem,
but sometimes the option or shift key acts like its being held
down and the solution i have found is to repeatedly press the key
- like a flurry of rapid keystrokes hoping to unstick the key.
It works more times than not. I have noticed this more on the
windows side in my VM, but maybe - just maybe - its worth a try.

Hello all
I셫 currently experiencing a really odd issue with my Mac. No
matter what I try, I셫 unable to use my space bar without using
a modifier key such as the shift key when pressing space. Does
anybody happen to have any suggestions as to why this might be?
Now and then, if I forget to use the modifier key, kind of
system window which Lynne says looks like the window that you
sometimes get if you right-click on an object or similar, using
the physical trackpad or a mouse.
If anybody can help me resolve this, i셝 be most grateful as
it셲 driving me absolutely bananas.
Kind regards
