So I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations (yet), good or bad experiences, recommendations for a good ISP that allows us to use our own modem and with a static IP, since Sympatico allows neither, and while I'm asking, any suggestions at all on jumping to wireless (routers and cards). What hardware is everyone using?

I'm happy with an Asant FR1004AL wireless router that I bought
specifically because it would pass AppleTalk; this was necessary for
me to print from various networked machines to an HP 4ML postscript
laser printer with an LocalTalk port, hooked up to a machine running
OS 9.2 and localtalk to ethernet bridge. I believe that this
company's routers are the only ones, other that Apple's Airport,
that pass AppleTalk packets.

AppleTalk? LocalTalk? What's that?

Just kidding.

I'm still using a Stylewriter II for all the printing that I do. All
that has gone wrong with it, after about 10 years of service, is that
one of the rubber rollers on the paper feeder split and fell off; so
sheets of paper feed in crooked sometimes. That would be a major
inconvenience if I used it more, or I guess, send print jobs to it
from another room (wirelessly). That wouldn't do then. (Note to self:
will probably need a new printer too.)

Thanks for the info on Asant.

Do I take it that purchasing a DSL modem in Canda, is still too new a
phenomenon for reviews?
