Makes a lot of sense: you skip the un-necessary negotiation that starts at the 
highest speed (56k), and go directly to 28.8k.

I just wanted to thank all that offered suggestions.  I changed from  
the Apple v92 to the Apple v34 script.  I connect much quicker, first  
time every time.  I am still at 26400 but I can live with that.  To  
think I have been suffering through this unnecessarily for almost 2  
years.
