AFAIK OS X won't talk to printers over a serial connection.
When OS X happened I had to hook up my Epson Stylus Photo 700 to a print server,
and use CUPS running on OS X (on my G4) to print to it over the network. Worked
great until a few months ago when the printer started putting yellow everywhere.
I now have a shiny new USB connected Canon iP5000 and I love it :)
I can share it from a PC via SAMBA, but it would be
nicer to have it connected directly.
I think it's either the PC or - if you have a network - a print server.
I have a print server I'm about to put on e-bay, parallel port connection to the
printer though.
Print Center is so different from Choser, I was lost.
Oh, but so much more powerful. You can do useful stuff with CUPS too:
