OK if this is about the Monitor going black and the keyboard and mouse being unresponsive and the only way out is a forced restart, then I had the exact problem on a beige G3 desktop running 10.2.8

There is a fix on the Apple site which requires opening a Terminal window and typing in a couple of lines of unix code and then restarting.

It worked for me, if I get a chance I will see if I can find the Apple Article ID and post it later.

Ken

 > I had that happen (the monitor issue) ... I thought it was because I
had it running in 10.2.0 at the time - ended up re-installing from
scatch and updating to 10.2.8 - no recurrence but then I only use it
occasionally for legacy stuff. So sounds like you're telling me it
 could happen to me again.

I turned off all the energy saver options, and that seems to have cured it
up to a point - i.e. I can use it for hours without any issues. It's when I
leave it unattended for a while (when installing stuff) that it seems to
happen. This is why I assumed power saving was causing an issue.

To be honest, it could be RAM or IDE cables, or overheating. It's all a bit
random and didn't happen under Classic (8.6)

I just fiddled a bit with it over lunch and am none the wiser. Still playing
up. I think the drive may be overheating. I might try it with a fresh 10.2
install on a single drive system with a CDRW on the second IDE Stream.... It
has to be something to do with overheating because the second drive was only
put in to install OSX on, and I think that is the most likely cause having
skimmed some websites this afternoon.
