have run disk repair and it says '1 hfs volume repaired - 1 volume

i went to reboot and it just hangs on spinny disk. i guess that means
new hdd needed.
next question. any recommendations for a replacement drive? the ibook
is a g3/900/14".
also what are my chances of data recovery? if i mount the volume in
single user mode i can see all the files - what would be the best way
to recover?
